It's a fault in the matching process of the iTunes software on the PC. If it doesn't then it is not a fault of the music app. The thing I am taking about is if your PC has the correct music tracks and it 'uploads' or 'matches' and gets them sent to your iCloud for playing on all your devices then it should then play the correct songs. But like I said in my last post if you don't use itunes match you have to turn off iCloud and sync and transfer the songs to the device over the usb cable link. If you transfer songs to the device itself then that is a different story. It's impossible to play anything else especially if using itunes match.

That has always been the case even with the past versions of the music app. The apple devices and the music app will only play what has been identified and uploaded to the iCloud. I can assure you such matching uses more than metadata as I have matched songs correctly with totally incorrect tags in the past. Hence any linked apple device will get the wrong version. and so both the PC version and the iCloud version become the wrong version. That is someone who has replaced their iTunes library music file (and iCloud) with a completely different song that iTunes Match has incorrectly identified, through adjusted metadata etc. But that post and article-link by Jimzgoldfinch is a different issue.
